Allied Whale is the marine mammal research group located at College of the Atlantic. Allied Whale was founded to conduct research for the effective conservation of marine mammal populations and their habitats. It is also responsible to respond to marine mammal emergencies and strandings from Rockland, Maine to the Canadian border. One of the main goals of Allied Whale is to provide students with marine research experience. Students have the opportunity to work for Allied Whale either as a work study or volunteer position during the school year, or as a full time intern during the summer. Summer interns will also spend half of their summer out at Mount Desert Rock, and a fair amount of their mainland time working on the Bar Harbor Whale Watch. For more information, check out the “Internship” tab above.
